IN YOUR OWN VOICE:
A WRITING WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN

IN YOUR OWN VOICE
A Writing Workshop for Women

Whether you’re writing memoir or fiction, how you see — your perspective — plays as much a part as what you see. We’ll explore ways of seeing and discover how our voices inspire our writing. We’ll also look at brief examples of published writing and notice how other writers use voice to create and show character.

IN-WORKSHOP WRITING
Through writing prompts, each week we will explore our inner cast of characters — archetypes that are part of us all. We’ll write through the eyes and voice of The Innocent (The Child), The Adventurer, The Sensualist, The Visionary, The Orphan, The Mystic, The Nurturer, The Artist. Seeing through these lenses allows for self-discovery and expansive creation as you write through your experience or imagine into fiction. You may develop the weekly writings into longer pieces, use aspects of them in short fiction, or let them inspire a longer body of work.

FEEDBACK AND REVIEW
Everyone will have two opportunities to receive a full half-hour of feedback and critique on memoir or other prose (up to 1500 words) or poetry (up to 2 poems). Writings will be distributed a week ahead for advance reading so that workshop time can be devoted to discussion for development or fine-tuning.
